Tear Sheet!

My bread and butter is Foto Assistanting at Amazon. A couple months ago I got a bone kicked down to me and ended with a tear sheet in this months edition of Packaging Digest.

It was a quick little shoot at Amazons Studio in the package testing facility portion of the building. It was definitely fun to shoot and required some quick technical thinking in a short period of time. Since the images to the right are so small, I've attached larger ones. Nothing out of this world, but I'll take what I can get. Published is published.

Music: DHMD (Devils Hunt Me Down)

New local band in Seattle, "Devils Hunt Me Down". Check out this video of them! It was a great show and it was their first venue! I saw them at their original first show, which was a house party and even then I was blown away. I found a video via their My Space. So an extra special thank you is in order for filming this piece, who ever you are. The video sound quality is alright, but all good. I'm telling you, if your into this music they're definitely a band to look out for! You can see me several times in the video shooting. Its kinda weird watching myself shoot. Looking back at that night I remembered my memory card not transferring images fast enough. I thought 90 mbs was fast – apparently not! Oh well, I got what I needed and took a break here and there to enjoy some DHMD!

Also, here are a couple stills of their set. And don't forget to check out the rest @ JF Fotography

Blue Stiley

A few others, including myself, brought a test shoot together a couple weeks ago. I think everything went pretty well. There are a few different looks, but this was the original concept I thought of, enjoy!

Thanks for your help everybody!

Mass production composite for me.....

I know its not the most glamorous work, Duhhhhhh! But since fotographers have stupid amounts of images on hard-drives, cds, etc... You get the picture? You can take some crap out-take and a mass-production-product-shoot (handful, i know), turn into something with a little more longevity. Also this way you get to be creative, duh... And something you shot --- doesn't go to waste. Only to end up on the web for the public to buy, with the other onslaught of images you just shot like this one (meaning the second one down). To be more frank and not Shirley, it should be a win-win situation for yourself if you stroll across a similar situation. Word...

Father's Day 2010

My dad came up from Cali for his trip to Alaska. He said 2010 was going to be the year for many good things. And I'm sure his timing for this trip was no accident that it landed on fathers day weekend. Mostly because we haven't had the five of us together in a long time. We just haven't been in one state since we all lived in Cali. I'm guessing at least 15 years has come and gone. Time sure does fly...

bracket snap shots #2

Heres another architecture shot I snagged while assisting on location with Endless.com/Amazon.com. Just a few minutes to screw around with available light. The process usually requires about three to four images to make (possible w/ less), and a little TLC in photochop.

I try not to blabber to you folks, but this particular shot is a little more special to me than normal. Mainly because I use to live on the cruise ship in the background, no joke! My first job out of school was working for Princess Cruises(worst job everrrrrrrrrr). Anyway, that particular ship in the water down therrrr is the Sapphire Princess. While aboard I had some good times, meet some great people, but it just wasn't for me. Thought it would be a good way to see Alaska and it was in a way. Luckily I was able to meet some buddies from Brooks in Juno during my stay, had some brews a few times and kick it, so that was a nice added bonus from it all. Also took some cool fotos of glaciers and a number of other things I may never see again... And now, two years later, I see the ship from this vantage. I love situations like this, were I'm aloud to compare and contrast two different points in my life, thats all.

Just kidding. If anything, theres a reassuring feeling that I'm going on the right path of whatever...

If you want to see a couple shots I took aboard the Sapphire. Check images 17 and 20 architecture portfolio @ www.jaredfroiland.com
